Amazon Web Services (AWS) has established the Generative AI Solutions Center to assist clients in expediting the integration of Generative AI for addressing business challenges and fostering innovation within their organizations.

This center offers a dynamic environment for innovation, contributing to transformative projects and technologies that are implemented both on devices and in the cloud.

As a Manager of Applied Science within this center, you will collaborate with both technical and business teams to develop novel generative AI solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.

Your role will involve leading a team of data scientists, research scientists, deep learning architects, and machine learning engineers to create generative AI models and frameworks, delivering cutting-edge solutions to address clients' operational and strategic challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and customer engagement skills, enabling you to serve as the technical representative of AWS within our ecosystem of solution providers and directly with end clients.

You will facilitate discussions with senior technical and management personnel among customers and partners, while also having the technical acumen to guide data scientists, research scientists, and software developers.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strategic mindset regarding business, product, and technical matters.

Crucially, the candidate will excel in technical team management, showcasing the ability to recruit, nurture, and retain high-caliber technical talent.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is tasked with driving revenue, adoption, and growth across a diverse range of customers, from small and mid-market accounts to large enterprises, including public sector entities.

The AWS Global Support team engages with leading organizations, recognizing that exceptional support is vital for customer success.

AWS Support collaborates with a global clientele that is developing mission-critical applications utilizing AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:Engage directly with clients to promote adoption and shape the future of emerging technologies by comprehending their business challenges and guiding them in the implementation of generative AI solutions, while fostering long-term strategic relationships with key accounts.Contribute to the development of a premier generative AI delivery team by mentoring and coaching your specialized team on best practices and how to design and present value-driven architectures of varying complexity.Expand an existing team by recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing new scientists, architects, and engineers from both internal and external sources.Identify opportunities for creating reusable technical assets based on recurring customer needs.Provide customer and market insights to Product and Engineering teams to inform product direction.Drive revenue growth across a wide array of customers.Act as a thought leader, driving value creation for clients, shaping technical solutions, expanding the team, and leading specific customer engagements.Deliver presentations and in-depth sessions to clients, guiding them on adoption patterns and pathways to production.

About the Team:
The team assists clients in envisioning and defining use cases that will yield the highest value for their businesses, selecting and refining appropriate models, navigating technical or business challenges, developing proof-of-concepts, and planning for large-scale solution launches.

The Generative AI Solutions Center team offers guidance on best practices for the responsible and cost-effective application of generative AI.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), or a related technical field, or MSc with several years of industry experience.
  • Several years of management experience with scientists or machine learning engineers.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, and analytics.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate senior stakeholder management skills and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience directly managing scientists or machine learning engineers.
  • Ability to translate informal customer requirements into problem definitions, managing ambiguity and competing objectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications.
  • Experience in constructing complex software systems, particularly those involving deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to clients.
  • Deep expertise in generative AI and hands-on experience deploying and hosting large foundational models.
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of AWS and AWS AI/ML services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience on cross-functional projects.
