Rennes, Bretagne, France INRIA Temps plein

**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly motivated Deep Learning Researcher to join our team at INRIA. The successful candidate will be part of an exciting project focused on incremental deep learning for embedded systems.

**About the Project**

In this project, we aim to design new incremental machine learning algorithms that can run on embedded systems with their associated resource and privacy constraints. These constraints involve limited computational power, memory, and energy efficiency. Our goal is to develop resource-efficient incremental learning algorithms that can adapt continuously over time as they encounter new data, tasks, or concepts, without forgetting or catastrophically overwriting what has previously been learned.

**Key Responsibilities**

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science and mathematics, excellent programming skills, and the ability to communicate written and orally in English in a clear and precise manner. The successful researcher will investigate incremental learning of foundation models on embedded systems, exploring how state-of-the-art methods can be applied to these models, assessing the extent to which these existing techniques provide effective solutions to the problem of incremental learning. Additionally, the PhD student will develop and propose new methodologies specifically designed to enable foundation models to learn incrementally when deployed on embedded systems, ensuring that these models maintain performance and adaptability over time.

**Requirements**

To be considered for this position, applicants should have a master's degree in computer science, AI, or a closely related discipline, a scientific attitude and the ability to reason through problems, and a good motivation for pursuing a Ph.D. and working in Rennes or Grenoble.

**Benefits**

The monthly gross salary for this position amounts to 2100 euros, and subsidized meals and partial reimbursement of public transport costs are also offered. If you are a proactive and independent individual with a passion for research, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
