Job Summary

The Technical Director plays a vital role in driving product development and ensuring our customers' success. As a member of the Constellium-Bowling Green LLC Management Team, you will lead a team of engineers focused on developing and qualifying new products, supporting customer applications, and collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless product launches.

Responsibilities
  • Product Development Leadership: Manage a team of Application, Product, and Testing Engineers to develop and qualify innovative aluminum products that meet market demands and support the company's growth strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with Industrialization, Supply Chain, Commercial teams, as well as Supplier facilities and Research Centers to ensure a seamless product development process.
  • Performance Reporting: Communicate key product development indicators to the management team, providing transparent insights into progress and achievements.
  • Customer Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, managing all technical communications and building strong relationships with OEM supplier quality teams.
  • On-Site Customer Support: Provide on-site technical assistance to customer facilities that utilize our products, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any technical challenges.
  • Quality Claim Management: Negotiate quality-related claims effectively, optimizing material utilization while upholding the company's commitment to product excellence.
  • Corrective Action Implementation: Coordinate and review corrective action reports with Quality and Operations teams, ensuring timely resolution of issues and continuous improvement in processes.
  • Strategic Product Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive product development strategy aligned with revenue growth expectations, focusing on innovation and market responsiveness.
  • Application Development Strategy: Define and implement an application development strategy that maximizes revenue potential while considering the complexity of products and applications.
  • APQP Compliance: Ensure that the product development cycle adheres to all necessary aspects of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process, guaranteeing a robust and structured approach.
  • R&D Collaboration: Coordinate research and development efforts with parent companies, leveraging their expertise and resources to support the overall product development strategy.
  • Process Control & Approval: Confirm, approve, and maintain all process parameters that influence product performance through the management of recipes and Customer Product Specifications (CPSs).
  • Testing Procedure Oversight: Approve all testing procedures to ensure strict compliance with customer specifications, guaranteeing product quality and reliability.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and requirements for the site, including compliance obligations, ISO programs, corporate & site-specific EHS rules, reporting of injuries/illnesses, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with the operations team to address product/process development and implementation issues, ensuring seamless integration and efficient production processes.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering field.
  • 10+ years of experience in an automotive product development environment.
  • Proven leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse teams.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Proactive, hands-on, independent, team player with a high level of autonomy and flexibility.
