Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Nexans. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide sound and actionable advice to our business teams, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the sustainable and successful growth of Nexans by providing expert legal advice and input to business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and the highest ethical standards.
  • Represent and defend Nexans' legal interests towards external stakeholders, such as contracting parties, authorities, etc.
  • Drive corporate governance of local entities, and be responsible for company law matters, preparation of board and shareholders meetings, drafting of resolutions, keeping of corporate books, etc.
  • Conduct litigation, define and/or propose strategy, facilitate briefs and documentation preparation, and manage external providers (counsel, experts, etc.).
  • Be curious and alert to constant change, keep a finger on the pulse of relevant legislation, and translate new legal framework into up-to-date and actionable guidance.
  • Contribute to law firm management, selection of provider, clear mandates and supervision, constructive and efficient cooperation, maximizing value for money.

Requirements:

  • Master of laws from a European university, with a degree from an English-speaking university being a plus.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with Spanish, Italian, or German being a plus.
  • Experience abroad is appreciated, and experience in compliance matters, including implementation of compliance programs, and competition law is a plus.
  • Well-versed in legal terminology and skilled in writing, with a professional and reliable attitude, quick learner, and team worker with strong sense of responsibility.
