Position Overview: Senior Subsea Systems Engineer

The Global Projects Centre (GPC) serves as Subsea7's hub of excellence for executing our most significant projects on a global scale.

As a Senior Subsea Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a technically sound and optimized system solution for major SURF FEED and Execute projects managed by the GPC. Your responsibilities will encompass defining system functional requirements, resolving critical design decisions, managing technical interfaces, mitigating risks, and implementing design validation processes to ensure effective and purpose-driven design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Articulate and communicate system design and functional requirements effectively.
  • Clarify design drivers and decision-making criteria.
  • Oversee the technical coordination of multidisciplinary work scopes related to system function and design.
  • Ensure mechanical and functional compatibility across the entire system.
  • Manage design trade-offs to enhance system performance based on identified drivers and criteria.
  • Incorporate client drivers into design and equipment selection, considering factors such as operability and integration.
  • Adopt a systems-level perspective in activities including:
    • Process flow diagrams, schematics, and block diagrams
    • Production and flow assurance
    • Reliability and availability modeling
    • Testing and commissioning strategies
    • Material selection and coatings
    • Process safety and risk management
  • Support the Tender team in interpreting client requirements and developing execution strategies.
  • Identify and manage key technical risks, ensuring critical items are escalated appropriately.
  • Act as an ambassador for Subsea7, showcasing our technical solutions and unique capabilities.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in engineering or a related field, with a strong background in Subsea Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Engineering Management, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in subsea projects.

Key skills and experience include:
  • Strong background in Systems Engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams in subsea projects.
  • Experience in managing interfaces among engineering disciplines, project management, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with collaborative working practices.
  • Prior experience in Design Leadership or Project Management.
  • Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Subsea Engineering
    • Flow Assurance
    • Production Operations
    • Project Engineering
    • Delivery of hardware packages (Systems, Trees, Controls, Pipelines, Manifolds, etc.)
    • Installation
