Senior Specialist in ESG and Co-Benefits

- Advanced degree (PhD/Master's/Engineering) in environmental studies, social sciences, sustainable development, forestry, agriculture, or conservation;
- 10 to 15 years of substantial field experience in project management and implementation with local communities, particularly in the AFOLU sector (Agriculture, Forestry & Land Use);
- Comprehensive knowledge of Land-use, Human Rights, and Environmental Rights in developing countries;
- Proven experience in leading Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), particularly adhering to World Bank and IFC standards;
- Familiarity with co-benefits management tools and certification processes is advantageous (High Conservation Value, FPIC approach, FSC / RSPO / other environmental standards);
- Insight into the voluntary carbon market and carbon certification standards is a bonus;
- Established network and reputation in relevant fields are beneficial;
- Willingness to travel internationally;
- Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of French is preferred, and Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
Strategic Vision Development
- Assist in the selection of operations to create a balanced portfolio aimed at achieving carbon credit production goals;
- Ensure deliverables align with TotalEnergies and TENBS strategic objectives;
- Contribute to shaping TENBS's positioning and commitments regarding ESG, co-benefits, and Benefit Sharing Mechanisms;
- Participate in developing stakeholder engagement strategies;
- Aid in managing reputational risks by preparing public communications and Q&A for signed operations.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Carbon Expertise to structure investment opportunities;
- Lead ESG development studies (prospect, preliminary/feasibility, conceptual or pre-project), Due Diligences, and Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, including co-benefits certifications (CCB, SD Vista, Gold Standard, FSC...);
- Prepare specifications for studies (content, deliverables, schedule, and budget);
- Coordinate the activities and contributions of various external service providers during study execution;
- Define and lead comparative analyses to determine optimal forestry and agricultural practices concerning Human Rights, FPIC, Governance, and co-benefits, synthesizing recommendations to enhance co-benefits for each carbon credit produced;
- Engage in data-rooms and due diligence as part of business development activities.
- Supervise the implementation of Environmental & Social Management Plans and associated tools;
- Collaborate with the Carbon Expertise team for validation and verification audits for co-benefits standards (CCB, SDVista, Gold Standard, FSC...): managing contracts with Validation & Verification Bodies and Developers (PDD, Monitoring Report);
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes for Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) of co-benefits across TENBS operations.
- Conduct competitive intelligence on international and sectoral negotiations regarding biodiversity, environmental, and social issues, as well as methodological and technological innovations related to ESG topics in the AFOLU sector through research and participation in external conferences;
- Facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and feedback within the team.
