Lead Legal Advisor for France - Juriste France H/F

This position is structured as 'Hybrid', with an expectation of working approximately 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Role Overview:

The Legal Department at Hewlett Packard Enterprise comprises around 500 professionals globally across 40 nations. We deliver legal guidance and support that enables our clients to meet the company's business goals while adhering to relevant legal and ethical standards. Our areas of expertise encompass support for all business units within Hewlett Packard Enterprise, including Ethics & Compliance, Litigation, Global Functions, Intellectual Property, Corporate, Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions, and regional support.

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified attorney to join HPE in Paris (La Defense), France. The successful candidate will become part of a well-established legal team and will engage in a diverse and stimulating role within an international and inspiring setting.

Responsibilities of the Legal Advisor:

  • Deliver expert legal support and strategic counsel to internal HPE clients.
  • Evaluate legal risks associated with business transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various types of business contracts and legal documents, including structuring, negotiating, and finalizing complex agreements, sometimes involving multiple countries.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve intricate legal challenges with a solution-oriented mindset while pragmatically balancing risks.
  • Serve as Legal Counsel for France and, on occasion, internationally.
  • Oversee third-party disputes and litigation.
  • Provide support on regulatory and compliance issues, such as anti-corruption, public procurement, and competition law, to help prevent non-compliance and mitigate business risks.
  • Foster legal awareness and conduct legal training for business teams, managers, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively with the broader legal team outside of France, offering advice and information to other departments such as Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Corporate Affairs, Cybersecurity, HR, Intellectual Property, and Litigation.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in French law.
  • 7 to 10 years of post-qualification commercial legal experience in an (ideally, international) law firm and/or in the legal department of a multinational corporation.
  • Ability to simplify complex legal or factual matters into clear communications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local and regional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role.
  • Previous experience in IT/IP law is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • International legal experience and/or education is beneficial but not a prerequisite.
  • A keen interest in Information Technology (IT) will be positively regarded.
