Bordeaux Métropole is dedicated to enhancing transportation options for its users through the establishment of a General Directorate of Mobilities (DGM). This initiative aims to broaden the scope of mobility by integrating neighboring areas, reimagining travel with diverse solutions, and promoting active modes of transport such as cycling and walking, while ensuring the efficiency of public transport systems.

The mobility projects department consists of a skilled team of 30 professionals, including 14 project manager engineers responsible for a portfolio of significant initiatives related to the development of transport infrastructures, including tramways, BHNS, bus facilities, active transport modes, relay parks, Garonne crossings, and intermodal hubs.

As a service manager, you will oversee multiple teams tasked with managing BHNS/Tramway or other heavy transport infrastructure projects during the design and implementation stages. You may also take on responsibilities as a project manager.

Your primary responsibilities include:

As the service manager:

  • Overseeing project resources and team management
  • Establishing and reporting performance metrics
  • Providing cross-functional tools and oversight
  • Ensuring effective cross-departmental coordination
  • Advising teams on best practices
  • Managing budget execution
  • Coordinating human resources with DAAF
  • Organizing and monitoring team workloads
  • Acting as the primary contact for inter-departmental communications
  • Representing the service at various organizational levels

As the project manager:

  • Leading the project team
  • Monitoring, organizing, and reporting on technical progress
  • Participating in metropolitan meetings
  • Preparing and presenting deliberations
  • Organizing and facilitating steering committees and progress meetings
  • Engaging in the Fair Compensation Commission for commercial damages
  • Managing regulatory procurement, environmental, and land procedures
  • Overseeing contract closures and installation handovers
  • Appointing providers and supervising services
  • Representing Bordeaux Métropole to project-related partners and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining relationships with elected officials and local residents in collaboration with the project mediation team
  • Serving as the technical liaison for the communication department regarding project information and promotional activities

Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical expertise in road and rail infrastructures, including bridges and structures
  • Strong understanding of public engineering operational processes, particularly in urban transport structuring
  • Familiarity with public procurement procedures
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of public engineering project managers and stakeholders
  • Experience in team leadership is advantageous
  • Proficient in regulatory impact studies, operational planning, and project risk assessment
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to public service, and a collaborative approach to teamwork
