Job Description:

The Acoustic and Cognitive Spaces team at IRCAM is seeking a highly skilled post-doctoral researcher to join their team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. The selected candidate will be part of the CONTINUUM project, which aims to develop novel concepts for producing and disseminating audio-augmented live performances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop active acoustic reverberation systems
  • Perform numerical simulations to optimize audio signal processing algorithms
  • Experimentally validate the developed systems in the variable acoustic concert hall at IRCAM
  • Develop and conduct perceptual experiments in various environments
  • Contribute to the integration of the active reverberation module into real-time spatialization environments
  • Write scientific articles and technical reports
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field with a strong component in 3D audio
  • Excellent knowledge of audio signal processing and room acoustics
  • Strong experience in multi-channel audio practices
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, and Max
  • Practical experience with acoustic measurement instruments
  • Good experience and methodology in critical listening
  • Excellent skills in scientific communication
