Director of Planning & Performance

The Planning and Performance division operates within Rider Operations, focusing on ensuring the delivery network's availability across France. This encompasses forecasting order volumes, managing the rider network, setting rider pricing and incentives, as well as event coordination.

We seek a seasoned and highly adaptable operations expert to enhance the professionalism and growth of this function at Deliveroo in France, while also contributing to the standards for operational forecasts and execution across Europe.

The Role

Navigating a large-scale, fiercely competitive, and rapidly growing environment presents unique challenges. You will encounter some of the most stimulating issues within the food technology sector. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the rider network's success in France.

This position will concentrate on addressing critical topics such as the technical configuration of the network, optimal rider incentives, reliable operations considering external factors like weather, and future-proofing the operational model in a continuously evolving landscape. You will be tasked with developing scalable processes to maintain Deliveroo's world-class operational standards.

Collaboration with our Global Product and Technology teams will be essential to enhance systems and processes. A significant aspect of this role will involve integrating operational and commercial teams while advancing the sophistication of our network capacity forecasts and execution.

You will work closely with peers in FR Operations (including rider services, rider engagement, and operations strategy), as well as Global Operations, to ensure optimal outcomes for riders, restaurants, and consumers utilizing our app throughout Europe. This position includes management responsibilities over sub-functions that handle operations forecasting, rider supply, and live network configuration.

In this capacity, you will engage directly with Marketing, Commercial, Sales, Operations, and Finance. You will provide expertise in forecasting, network optimization, and capacity while supporting various initiatives, including monthly demand and supply plans, network strategy, promotion integration, and new product launches.

You will excel in working independently and collaboratively to identify, resolve, and report on critical issues, while effectively communicating with multiple senior stakeholders. You will be a decisive executor and a leader, recognized as an authority on Deliveroo Operations, playing a crucial role in both the FR Operations Management team and the broader FR Leadership Team. Your focus will be on identifying, monitoring, and reporting on essential business KPIs, while also highlighting risks and opportunities related to medium and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recommend resource allocation strategies to achieve optimal business outcomes, such as managing rider incentive expenditures.
  • Monitor and drive key business metrics to ensure we deliver and maintain exceptional outcomes for all customers.
  • Become a subject matter expert on Deliveroo operations and the end-to-end fulfillment process, gaining the knowledge to represent the operations function in discussions with senior stakeholders.
  • Build relationships across the organization, both globally and centrally, to eliminate barriers for your team and influence decision-making when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how actions in Operations have broader impacts and how to plan accordingly.
  • Utilize business priorities to guide and lead project initiatives that yield significant business results.
  • Collaborate with other members of the FR team to ensure efficient operations that meet the needs of commercial stakeholders.
  • Provide regular, relevant, and concise updates on operational matters to broader business stakeholders in a highly quantitative, data-driven manner.

Qualifications:
  • A high standard of university-level education or equivalent experience in consulting, program management, supply chain management, engineering, or a high-growth start-up or scale-up.
  • Proven experience in building scalable processes, tools, and structured change methodologies, thriving in a highly ambiguous yet process-oriented environment.
