Chief Manufacturing Officer

Bird Buddy is experiencing significant growth and expanding its workforce. We are in search of a Chief Manufacturing Officer to oversee manufacturing and procurement operations, particularly in consumer electronics and plastics sourced from Asia for distribution in the US and Europe. This pivotal role will focus on mitigating operational risks and enhancing our cost efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability. It presents a unique opportunity to shape Bird Buddy's procurement strategy and foster hardware innovation as the company evolves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management in Manufacturing: Identify potential risks in production volume and quality, ensure adherence to regulations, and develop contingency plans for business continuity.
  • Cost Reduction: Formulate and manage budgets for procurement and manufacturing processes, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of materials, services, and equipment.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favorable contract terms.
  • Production Flexibility: Enhance production adaptability, increase throughput, and reduce lead times.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Drive efforts to minimize environmental impact, facilitate the manufacturing of innovative products with new materials, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a strategic, management, or consulting capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and procurement processes in consumer electronics and plastics, from product R&D to mass production, along with awareness of current industry trends.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build partnerships.
  • Experience working with US and EU companies that source R&D and finished products from Asian contract manufacturers.
  • Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites and supplier locations globally.
  • Ideally, experience in startups or growth-stage companies, with a hands-on approach to working with small teams under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Open to candidates from various locations, with a preference for those in Central Europe or the US East Coast.
