POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for the overall management of housing operations for both graduate and undergraduate students, along with the Residential Life Office for undergraduate students. Develops a strategic vision for residential life initiatives. Designs and oversees housing policies and procedures. Manages the Residential Life team and the Housing Logistics and Maintenance staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Life Management:
- Oversee the preparation of the housing offering website each semester.
- Propose a schedule of payment deadlines and amounts to the Vice President.
- Ensure that new students are enrolled in one of the required housing options prior to orientation, facilitating communication among Admissions, Housing staff, and external housing providers.
- Manage all housing assignments, payments, and communications for incoming students housed by the institution.
- Review and confirm new undergraduate exemption requests for the first-year residency requirement.
- Supervise the housing check-in process at the start of each orientation session, coordinating with housing providers, Resident Assistants, and Student Advisors to ensure a seamless transition for incoming students.
- Select and train Resident Assistants.
- Assist the Vice President in selecting new partners and leased properties.
Housing Mediation:
- Act as the primary contact for managing roommate disputes, facilitating moves within the housing system when necessary, and referring students to counseling services as appropriate.
- Enforce housing policies and collaborate with Student Development for follow-up actions when required.
- Coordinate all webforms and surveys generated by the Residential Life Office.
- Perform and oversee administrative tasks, including housing billing and insurance follow-up.
- Ensure effective communication with students regarding housing insurance and responsibilities.
- Inform students of their rights and responsibilities regarding housing, acting as a liaison between students and housing providers to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with other University departments to ensure alignment of Residential Life practices with University-wide policies.
- Educate students about housing insurance options and manage relationships with host families and private landlords.
- Supervise logistics and maintenance operations for all residential sites.
- Oversee the Resident Assistants.
- Lead programming initiatives from inception to execution.
Digital Strategy and Evaluation:
- Lead the development and enhancement of digital tools necessary for the Office's operations, ensuring proper training for staff.
- Conduct annual student satisfaction surveys to gather data for assessment purposes.
Family Engagement:
- Address inquiries from parents regarding housing services and assignments.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor based on departmental needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred, in Student Services or Education, or significant experience in a Residential Life role within an American context.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken.
- Previous experience in U.S.-style student housing.
- Awareness of student needs and cultural diversity.
- Familiarity with the local community.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while providing empathetic support.
- Strong organizational and crisis management skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including database management.
- Valid work authorization for France or EEC nationality.
