Applications Engineer for Semiconductor Solutions

Position Overview:
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) plays a crucial role in providing both pre-sales and post-sales assistance for MACOM's European semiconductor center. The pre-sales responsibilities encompass securing design wins with MACOM products, delivering technical presentations, showcasing MACOM technology, addressing technical inquiries, and crafting compelling product pitches. Post-sales duties involve hardware and software design support, laboratory debugging, training, and facilitating a seamless transition to volume production. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in semiconductor communication devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular visits to current and prospective clients.
- Identify opportunities for new designs and product upselling.
- Align customer design specifications with MACOM's product offerings and technologies.
- Provide insights and guidance for customer proposals.
- Deliver technology demonstrations utilizing MACOM evaluation boards and reference designs.
- Assist clients with architectural, schematic, and layout tasks during the design phase.
- Develop the product validation environment, encompassing both hardware and software components.
- Validate products in their intended applications and prepare validation reports.
- Collaborate closely with the broader product development team.
- Create supporting materials such as application notes, product presentations, and publications.
- Provide training to the sales and marketing teams.
- Offer customer and field support for both new and existing products.
- Deliver on-site assistance to quickly diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues during design bring-up and debugging.
- Educate customers and distributor FAEs on the advantages and features of MACOM products.
- Act as an advocate for MACOM's products and technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or PhD in Electronic Engineering.
- Expertise in semiconductors and various designs (e.g., power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, CoreChip, mixers, trans-impedance amplifiers).
- Strong desire for continuous learning and professional development.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Outstanding problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Familiarity with bench equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF sources, and power meters.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, project-oriented team environment.
- Proactive and positive attitude.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with PCB design, schematics, layout, signal integrity, and component selection.
- Knowledge of peripheral design (e.g., power distribution, filtering, clocking, microprocessors).
- Familiarity with software tools such as Python, C, C++, Jupyter, Pads PCB, Cadence, ADS, Ansys, and Matlab.
