Job Description:

The role of Applications Engineer is crucial for providing both pre-sales and post-sales support at M/A Com's European semiconductor center. Pre-sales responsibilities include securing design wins with M/A Com products, delivering technical presentations, showcasing M/A Com technology, addressing technical inquiries, and assisting in crafting effective product pitches. Post-sales duties encompass hardware and software design support, lab debugging, training, and facilitating a seamless transition to volume production. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in semiconductor communication devices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site visits to current and prospective customers.
  • Identify opportunities for new designs and product upselling.
  • Align customer design needs with M/A Com products and technologies.
  • Provide insights and guidance for customer proposals.
  • Deliver technology demonstrations using M/A Com evaluation boards and reference designs.
  • Assist customers with architecture, schematic, and layout activities during the design phase.
  • Develop the product validation environment, including both hardware and software components.
  • Validate products in their intended applications and prepare validation reports.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader product development team.
  • Create collateral materials such as application notes, product presentations, and publications.
  • Provide training to the sales and marketing teams.
  • Offer customer and field support for both new and existing products.
  • Deliver on-site support to swiftly identify and resolve hardware and software issues during design bring-up and debugging.
  • Educate customers and distributor FAEs on the advantages and features of M/A Com products.
  • Act as an advocate for M/A Com products and technologies.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or PhD in Electronic Engineering.
  • Knowledge in the semiconductor field, including various designs (power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, CoreChip, mixers, trans-impedance amplifiers, etc.).
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities.
  • Familiarity with bench equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF sources, and power meters.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-oriented team environment.

  • Self-motivated with the capacity to multitask and work independently.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with PCB design (schematics, layout, signal integrity, component selection).
  • Knowledge of peripheral design (power distribution/filtering, clocking, microprocessors).
  • Familiarity with software tools such as Python, C, C++, Jupyter, Pads PCB, Cadence, ADS, Ansys, and Matlab.
