Research Scientist - Surface Scattering
The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our team dedicated to the study of hard and soft condensed matter surfaces and interfaces.
As part of this dynamic research environment, you will play a crucial role in operating a specialized beamline equipped for advanced X-ray techniques. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including conducting cutting-edge research, providing expert support to external users, and developing your own independent research program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research utilizing X-ray reflectivity, grazing incidence WAXS and SAXS, XRF, and XANES techniques.
- Contribute to the advancement of data analysis methods and sample environments tailored to the beamline's capabilities.
- Actively participate in collaborative in-house research projects.
- Serve as a dedicated point of contact for external users, providing comprehensive support and guidance.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field obtained within the last three years.
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for instrumentation and data analysis.
- Possess hands-on experience with X-ray or neutron scattering techniques.
- Be proficient in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and scientific computing.
- Exhibit the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary research environment.
