About the Role

Datadog's Real User Monitoring (RUM) provides unparalleled visibility into the real-time activity and experience of individual users across web and mobile applications.

This includes application performance, error management, and analytics & user insights.

RUM is experiencing rapid growth, with increasing customer adoption, feature development, and team expansion.

As an Engineering Manager on the Mobile SDKs team, you will lead the development of cutting-edge SDKs for Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter, and Unity, impacting millions of users across major organizations.

You will identify performance bottlenecks and improve web optimization, working closely with product, design, frontend, and backend teams.

The role offers direct influence over SDK design and delivery, supporting teams beyond RUM like Product Analytics and Error Tracking.

You will be responsible for managing and growing the Mobile SDK teams, directly managing 6-8 engineers across 2-3 domains.

You will define the technical roadmap in alignment with product goals and the frontend and backend teams.

You will work directly with partner teams to define the client-side experience of Datadog.

You will create a strong team culture aligned with our engineering standards and customer focus.

You will participate in hands-on work, including code reviews, design reviews, and some coding.

About You

You are a software engineer at heart with previous experience leading software engineering teams, as a tech lead or people manager.

You have excellent leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

You are skilled at building bridges with other teams and nourishing collaborative relationships, managing dependencies between partners.

You are interested in the small details that have a large impact on app development.

You have a track record of delivering high-quality software products on schedule and collaborating closely with product partners.

You are a strong technician, particularly in one of Java/Kotlin, Objective-C/Swift, or multi-platform frameworks targeting mobile (Unity, Flutter, React Native).

You are experienced at building packages or tooling for developers to use in production.
