Control and Instrumentation Facility Maintenance Engineer

AWE is seeking a skilled Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Facility Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the EPURE facility in France. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering professional engineering services for the upkeep of all assets and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical knowledge for engineered systems and structures.
  • Identify and escalate business risk where applicable to plant and engineered systems.
  • Make evidence-based engineering decisions to solve technical problems.
  • Bring C&I engineering skills to the team, which could potentially include one or more of the following: Electrical distribution, functional safety, PLCs, machinery safety, intrinsic safety, BMS, and specialist instrumentation.
  • Provide hands-on support for UK Trials at EPURE.
  • Contribute towards the development of Safe Systems of Work and Work instructions.
  • Acquire and maintain the necessary competencies to perform this role.
  • Develop awareness of team, function, and company processes and technical capabilities.
  • Participate in collaborative working relationships as part of a team (internal/external).
Requirements:
  • Willing to relocate to France and live within 1 hour of the Valduc site.
  • The ability to communicate in the French Language is essential for this role.
  • Operate in workplaces of substantial hazard (radiological, explosive, toxic).
  • Be comfortable with working in the defence industry in support of the UK nuclear deterrent.
  • Undertake secondary roles for the UK Senior Technical operator in support of UK operations.
  • Fit to wear a respirator and work in a radiation-controlled area.
