Job Opportunity: Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Facility Maintenance Engineer

AWE is seeking a highly skilled Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Facility Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the EPURE facility near Dijon, France.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with our esteemed French and UK colleagues and be part of a groundbreaking project. As a C&I Facility Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering professional engineering services for the upkeep of all assets and equipment at the EPURE facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply technical knowledge for engineered systems and structures
  • Identify and escalate business risk where applicable to plant and engineered systems
  • Make evidence-based engineering decisions to solve technical problems
  • Bring C&I engineering skills to the team, which could potentially include one or more of the following: Electrical distribution, functional safety, PLCs, machinery safety, intrinsic safety, BMS and specialist instrumentation
  • Providing hands-on support for UK Trials at EPURE
  • Contribute towards the development of Safe Systems of Work and Work instructions
  • Acquire and maintain the necessary competencies to perform this role
  • Develop awareness of team, function and company processes and technical capabilities
  • Participate in collaborative working relationships as part of a team (internal/external)
Requirements
  • An HNC/HND with additional experience
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering across similar manufacturing/research environments incorporating infrastructure facilities, plant, and equipment
  • Experience of delivering facilities engineering and maintenance services across the life of an asset
  • Ability to communicate in the French Language is essential for this role. While training will be provided, significant personal commitment and self-study will be required to reach the required level.
  • Relocate to France and live within 1 hour of the Valduc site and be permanently located in France for up to 5 years
  • Operate in workplaces of substantial hazard (radiological, explosive, toxic)
  • Be comfortable with working in the defence industry in support of the UK nuclear deterrent
  • Undertake secondary roles for the UK Senior Technical operator in support of UK operations

Please note that when first appointed in the role, you will be based in the UK initially for a period of 6-9 months before being deployed to France. Once deployed to France, you will follow the site standard 5-day working week, at the end of the assignment, you will be re-deployed back to AWE in the UK.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
