Team Context:
The Expertise Center (EC) for Quantitative Research and Modeling (QRM) within GEMS comprises a team of 30 quantitative analysts. This team is committed to delivering advanced quantitative expertise across all Business Platforms (BP) of GEMS.
The Quantitative Analyst will join the "Gas & Oil" quant team, which consists of approximately 10 members, and will focus exclusively on the Gas Supply & Trading (GST) Business Platform. This platform's midstream and upstream gas trading desks manage complex financial assets on behalf of both internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
The Quantitative Analyst will concentrate on the operations of the Gas Supply and Trading desks. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining models that inform financial and physical trading, portfolio management, and risk assessment.
- Leading end-to-end model development, from data preparation to implementation, validation, and calibration of derivatives pricing models.
- Theoretical formulation of pricing strategies for each traded derivative, ensuring:
- Conceptual integrity of the modeling framework
- Alignment with market practices
- Mathematical validation of pricing formulas
- Comprehensive documentation of methodologies
- Integrating pricing and risk management engines into an official pricing library, ensuring:
- Optimal performance of algorithms
- High-quality code production
- Thorough testing of new functionalities
- Adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Conducting portfolio analysis, stress testing, and relevant risk assessments.
The analyst will engage directly with Traders to understand their operational needs, providing quantitative support and translating model requirements into actionable development features. Collaboration with fellow Quants will be essential for sharing insights and enhancing model development.
Required Skills:
- Strong mathematical foundation and expertise in Quantitative Finance.
- Solid understanding of trading and portfolio management dynamics.
- Proficient in object-oriented programming (C#, Python) for autonomous model development.

Educational Background:
- Engineering or advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Financial Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in Commodity Markets is a plus.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English.
- Familiarity with programming languages (C#, Python, etc.), Visual Studio, GIT, etc.
