Job Description

Context and Objectives

The Atlantis team at INRIA is seeking a highly motivated intern to contribute to the development of advanced computational design methodologies for nanophotonics. The successful candidate will work on the application of reduced-order modeling (ROM) techniques using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for the simulation and optimization of electromagnetic problems in nanophotonics.

Responsibilities

  • Study existing ANN-based ROM methods and formulate a novel approach for time-domain nanophotonics
  • Develop the ANN-based ROM method in Fortran 2003 and Python for 3D problems
  • Assess the novel ROM method using model problems and publish the results

Requirements

  • Master's degree in numerical mathematics or scientific computing
  • Sound knowledge of numerical analysis for PDEs and basic knowledge of physics of electromagnetic wave propagation
  • Proficiency in Python and Fortran 2003
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Working Environment

The internship will be conducted in a dynamic and collaborative environment at INRIA, with access to state-of-the-art computational resources and expertise in numerical mathematics and scientific computing.
