PhD Researcher in Human Physiology and Epilepsy

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon - CRNL. The successful candidate will be working on a 3-year project to investigate the interplay between epilepsy-related respiratory dysfunction, arousal regulation, and the brainstem adenosine pathway.
Project Overview
The PhD project will be conducted in adult patients with drug-resistant epilepsy and healthy controls in two parallel clinical studies. The first study will aim to assess the arousal reactivity in drug-resistant epilepsy, with a specific emphasis on asphyxia-induced arousal. The second study will investigate the impact of epilepsy on the brainstem adenosine pathway and its relation with arousal and respiratory reactivity.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Neurosciences or Physiology, basic knowledge of EEG in humans, and past experience in studies conducted in humans. The candidate should also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Administrative Organization
The PhD project will be conducted under the supervision of Pr Sylvain RHEIMS and Dr Emeric STAUFFER. The successful candidate will be employed by Lyon 1 University and will receive a 3-year contract with a salary of 1687 €/month.
