Display Interactive, a prominent entity in the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) sector, is expanding its Engineering team and seeking a skilled Manager to drive our innovative projects.
With over a decade of experience delivering our UGO PAX and UGO 360 wireless IFEC solutions on commercial and private aircraft, we are committed to continuous product advancement for our esteemed airline partners worldwide.
As we embark on the SkyWaves initiative, designed to revolutionize onboard connectivity, we are eager to welcome new talent to our Paris-based team.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will lead an engineering team focused on the development of various components within the SkyWaves project, which encompasses embedded systems, ground session management, and cloud-based solutions including client portals and real-time monitoring tools.
Your management duties will include:
- Overseeing daily team operations (motivation, one-on-one meetings, conflict resolution, managing expectations, leave management...)
- Ensuring adherence to established methodologies in collaboration with the CTO and VP of Engineering (Daily Stand-ups, Retrospectives, Demos...)
- Facilitating team engagement and team-building initiatives
- Managing recruitment efforts (working with headhunters, tracking candidates, conducting interviews...)
Additionally, you will:
- Plan and organize the team's roadmap in alignment with the overall Company objectives
- Collaborate with other Engineering Managers on cross-functional projects
- Oversee tasks assigned to internal or external teams (outsourcing/subcontracting)
- Track team performance metrics (velocity & productivity)
- Provide progress reports to the VP, highlighting achievements, challenges, and timeline adjustments
- Ensure the quality of deliverables produced by the team
- Oversee the creation of necessary documentation
- Manage on-call responsibilities and potential onsite interventions
- Supervise Level 2 Maintenance and Support requests relevant to the team's scope
Occasionally, you may also engage in sales-related activities such as workshops, exhibitions, and client meetings.
The role has a significant international aspect, requiring occasional travel abroad. Proficiency in business English is essential for effective communication with partners and clients. Regular interactions via phone and email with clients and partners will be part of your responsibilities.
Qualifications
You hold a BAC +3 / +5 degree and possess at least 5 years of experience in Engineering project management.
Your background includes overseeing cross-functional development teams (Front-End, Back-End, System).
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Expertise in management, particularly within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
- Capability to navigate complex human and technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-sufficiency and initiative.
- Familiarity with web technologies (Symfony, PHP, HTML, JavaScript).
- Knowledge of Linux environments (Ubuntu).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
- Fluency in English, including proficiency in phone conversations and leading meetings (CEFR C1 / TOEFL iBT 95).
Preferred Qualifications
Desirable attributes for this position include:
- Prior experience in the aerospace sector.
- Experience with connectivity providers or satellite suppliers.
Work Environment
This role allows for 2 to 3 days of remote work per week, contingent on autonomy.
Your primary workplace will be at Display Interactive's office in Montrouge, with some tasks necessitating in-person attendance. Travel within France and internationally may also be required.
Compensation Package
- Annual gross salary ranging from €50,000 to €70,000, depending on qualifications.
- 12 days of paid time off (RTT) annually.
