KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In your capacity as Commercial Counsel, you will act as a vital business partner, primarily engaging with the global marketing and commercial teams across Europe, Africa, and Asia.
This role necessitates collaboration with fellow legal professionals across various functions globally, as well as cross-departmental teamwork (e.g., R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Procurement, and Finance) to provide comprehensive legal guidance on diverse matters, including marketing strategies, sales operations, regulatory compliance, and litigation oversight.
Your primary focus will include:
Serving as a strategic, solutions-driven partner to the marketing and sales teams for a variety of brands, both licensed and owned by Coty. Engaging in typical legal tasks such as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad spectrum of contracts, including distribution, retail, travel retail agreements, talent agreements (model, photographer, director, etc.), sponsorships, promotions, influencer partnerships, music rights, agency contracts, e-commerce agreements, licensing, and procurement contracts, alongside legal evaluations of marketing campaigns and promotional materials. Offering EU regulatory insights, particularly regarding French ARPP, ASA in the UK, and claims substantiation related to marketing assertions and product regulations, while overseeing various litigation matters. This includes staying updated on the latest legal developments and participating in relevant training opportunities, notably through FEBEA (the trade union for cosmetic manufacturers in France). Conducting training sessions for internal teams on legal topics such as pricing strategies, compliance audits, claims substantiation (especially concerning environmental claims), and Coty’s internal policies regarding AI development. Delivering high-quality legal counsel promptly to a diverse range of business and operational colleagues on matters including marketing, regulatory compliance, claims substantiation, advertising, litigation, competition law, and digital strategies. Managing relationships with external legal counsel on various issues, including risk assessments, regulatory updates, and litigation, while fulfilling other departmental responsibilities as required.At Coty, we celebrate the diversity of beauty. Have accumulated 3 - 5 years of commercial law experience at a global law firm, ideally with exposure to the luxury, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods sectors, either in private practice or as an in-house attorney.
