Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a skilled legal professional to become a vital part of our AE (Americas and EMEA) Legal Team as the Senior Legal Advisor for France and BeNeLux. This role is pivotal for a lawyer who will oversee legal matters across France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. The selected candidate will engage with leadership teams in these regions, providing strategic legal counsel on a broad spectrum of commercial, corporate, and compliance issues arising from the daily operations of a publicly traded global enterprise in a highly regulated industry.

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office, and will report to the Legal Director Europe.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Legal Advisor for France and BeNeLux, you will be responsible for managing all legal affairs and identifying potential risks associated with Align's operations in these markets. Your role will involve navigating a complex legal environment while ensuring adherence to Align's policies and strategic objectives.

You will collaborate with various departments within Align to support the France and BeNeLux region, including but not limited to:

  • Overseeing all legal matters in the region, encompassing France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
  • Delivering high-quality legal and strategic guidance to commercial and functional teams.
  • Proactively addressing critical legal, business, and ethical challenges.
  • Assisting in public affairs initiatives and litigation matters.
  • Partnering with the local HR Department on employment-related issues.
  • Developing and conducting risk-based training programs.
  • Establishing and managing relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Collaborating with the AE Legal Department and Global Compliance Team to implement a risk-based compliance program aligned with European regulations.
  • Keeping the Legal Director Europe informed about significant projects and compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • Licensed French civil lawyer with qualifications to practice under French law.
  • 6-10 years of post-bar experience, preferably in a healthcare or medical context, either in-house or at a law firm.
  • Familiarity with the medical device sector or broader pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries; knowledge of competition law, data privacy, and compliance is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in transactional work and legal drafting.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written French and English; a third European language is a plus.
