Your role at Sephora:
As a Senior Director of Strategic Procurement, you will be accountable for fostering robust and effective business partner relationships by leveraging deep category and industry knowledge, consistently driving process enhancements, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and business leaders to formulate and execute global expenditure strategies across categories that enhance the customer retail experience, including but not limited to Marketing, Facilities, and Retail Operations functions. The Senior Director will closely collaborate with the Strategic Procurement leadership and Accounts Payable teams to continuously refine and deliver a comprehensive Source to Pay user experience for the end-users.

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Procurement, this position is focused on establishing our organization as a trusted ally to our internal clients to increase managed expenditure, standardize and streamline processes, and implement strategic procurement strategies that deliver tangible value to the business while enhancing internal customer satisfaction. The leader is responsible for guiding teams of category managers to support over $1B+ in annual expenditure across multiple categories such as Marketing (e.g., Media, Agency, Events), Corporate Shared Services (e.g., Facilities, Real Estate, Construction, Professional Services), and Retail Operations (e.g., Fixtures, Packaging, Supplies, Maintenance Services) categories.

The Senior Director must utilize experiences to deliver significant value to key stakeholders in strategic planning, category management, risk assessment, expenditure analysis, pricing, and contract negotiations. In addition, you will:

  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders and be recognized as a valued partner, influencing business decisions through the demonstration of strategic thinking and deep sourcing process and category expertise.
  • Collaborate annually with the business unit and Finance on strategic cost-saving objectives and project plans.
  • Continuously enhance supplier performance through effective contracts and supplier performance management methodologies.
  • Achieve year-over-year improvements in Indirect expenditure, focusing on quality and service.
  • In partnership with department subject matter experts, create and execute RFPs as necessary.
  • Strategize across categories/departments to identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and cost-effectiveness in supplier negotiations.
  • Conduct all phases in developing complex contracts, including drafting statements of work, request for proposal creation, and contract evaluation and negotiations.
  • Build project plans and timelines to ensure key milestones are captured and met concerning the sourcing process.
  • Effectively communicate status updates to key stakeholders, including timely identification and escalation/resolution of issues.
  • Work closely with legal and business partners to negotiate the most favorable contracts in both business and legal terms.
  • Ensure active workload balancing, prioritization, execution, and KPI management of the strategic procurement team for effectiveness and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate actively to enhance Sephora's Source to Pay Processes, Policies, Automation, Sustainability, Supplier Diversity, and third-party Risk goals.

We're excited about you if you have:

  • 12+ years of corporate/retail level strategic procurement experience with significant people management experience building and coaching expert teams.
  • Expertise with multiple indirect expenditure categories and associated sub-categories, including strategy formation, stakeholder alignment, and negotiations in an omnichannel retail environment.
  • Ability to build effective, strategic relationships with key stakeholders, team, and the Vice President of Strategic Procurement to drive and execute sourcing strategies to deliver results.
  • Experience managing and developing direct reports.
  • Ability to summarize complex business issues and evaluate sourcing opportunities for improved functionality, cost savings, and SLAs.
  • Excellent project and timeline management skills to manage sourcing projects end-to-end, from project intake, onboarding to project closure, operationalization, transition, and governance.
  • Facilitate and lead effective team meetings with cross-functional partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with developing and evaluating statements of work, risk analysis, contract writing, and market research.
  • Experienced and skilled negotiator with the utilization of flexible strategies.
  • Experience conducting expenditure data analysis and strategic planning with business partners.
  • Ability to successfully influence both internal and external partners.
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal. Experience interfacing with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytics, excel, presentation, data visualization, and sourcing tools skills (required).

The annual base salary range for this position is $142,000 - $190,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
