With a diverse workforce of over 150 employees from more than 20 nationalities, we specialize in advanced high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems. Our mission includes pioneering new technologies for the integration of renewable energy sources into future electricity networks.
Position Overview: We are seeking a Research Engineer specializing in the real-time simulation of HVDC networks to enhance our C&P prototyping and HIL validation group. This role involves engaging in the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing platform, focusing on both technical enhancements and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the technical advancements of the real-time simulation laboratory, particularly in rapid prototyping and HIL testing of industrial relays and controllers.
- Develop and validate control systems for DC Grids.
- Coordinate both internal and external efforts to establish specified HIL setups.
- Engage with clients throughout the pre-sale and delivery phases.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain a control room/SCADA interface for demonstration purposes.
- Foster shared expertise within the Architecture and System program, focusing on communication and telecommunication techniques applicable to HVDC grid automation, protection, and control.
- Assist in structuring technical and commercial offerings as necessary.
- Organize demonstration visits, publish technical papers, and participate in conferences and industry events.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with 3 to 5 years of experience in modeling and simulating electrical systems (high voltage):
- Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools such as PSCAD, EMTP, and/or HYPERSIM.
- Understanding of power electronics and control systems.
- Familiarity with HVDC switching and breaking equipment, as well as fault current limiting technologies.
- Knowledge of communication standards for electrical substation automation (IEC 61850).
- Programming skills in C/C++ and Python are advantageous.
- Strong command of the English language.
