The mission of the Amadeus Hotel IT team is to design and implement high-performance systems capable of processing vast numbers of requests per second, ensuring rapid response times with exceptional accuracy. Our SaaS platforms cater to millions of users seeking information and reservations from a multitude of hotels worldwide, offering an extensive range of accommodations. Leveraging our expertise in developing and deploying mission-critical software for the global travel sector, we are pioneering the next generation of technological solutions for the hospitality industry, which includes reservations and distribution, high-volume data acquisition, advanced search engines, payment processing, hotel operations, business intelligence, and revenue management. The Amadeus Hotel Platform is a service-oriented architecture (SOA) solution that provides a fully centralized reservation system for large hotel chains, evolving to meet new customer demands.

Purpose

The functional architect serves as a subject matter expert responsible for crafting solutions tailored to our clients, ensuring alignment with the Amadeus product vision. You act as a liaison between customer-facing teams/product managers and internal Amadeus development teams, participating in client discussions when in-depth knowledge is required.
Your involvement may span various stages of customer programs, including pre-sales, discovery, and solution design.

The ideal candidate possesses a blend of business insight and technical expertise, excels in stakeholder management, comprehends customer requirements from both business and functional/technical perspectives, balances Amadeus's needs with customer expectations, designs solutions, and effectively communicates and coordinates with internal teams.

The scope of this position encompasses Hotel IT Central Reservation Systems.

Your Main Responsibilities

Common accountabilities:
  • Engage with Product Managers or directly with clients to fully grasp business needs and constraints, merging customer expectations with Amadeus's strategic objectives for proposals.
  • Oversee the design of solutions at both platform and application levels, collaborating with all necessary teams to achieve consensus, ensuring consistency across projects and applications, and identifying gaps and tracking dependencies.
  • Lead analyses of cross-functional requirements and solutions by collaborating with all stakeholders, including architects and technical experts.
  • Promote cross-business synergies and the Amadeus vision through solution recommendations.
  • Assess how key business drivers may influence your area, tackle complex issues with broad implications, enhance processes, propose solutions, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Break down the vision into actionable steps while maintaining overall consistency and feasibility.
  • Communicate progress on solutions and agreements at any stage within the core team.
  • Document and present solution recommendations to stakeholders during review forums, simplifying complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Transfer the validated solution to the R&D teams as it enters the development phase.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with a variety of individuals, including customers and technical or functional profiles.

Specific accountabilities:
  • Previous experience in a similar role (Functional Architect, Solution Definition Manager, or in an architectural/development capacity).
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Experience within Amadeus hospitality or the broader hospitality sector is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, flexibility, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact with all stakeholders, including clients, to convey complex information.
  • Ability to work autonomously, guided by management directions.
  • Capability to lead projects or contribute to extensive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the Amadeus business is preferred.
  • Engineering degree with 7+ years of professional experience.
