Your Profile:

  • You have 5 to 10 years of post-qualification experience as a solicitor/attorney, preferably in a Common Law jurisdiction and/or as in-house counsel.
  • Previous experience in commercial law and/or energy and/or trading is mandatory.
  • A previous experience in Gas & Power / Renewable industry is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient English legal drafting skills (and speaks, reads, and writes in English).
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of management.
  • Legal training in another European jurisdiction is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of French and/or another major European language would also be an advantage.

Activities

What You Will Do:

As a Legal Counsel, you will be part of the T&S Global Legal Team, reporting to the VP Legal. You will advise traders, management, operators, and support office functions on legal matters related to third-party negotiations, commercial/finance/operations, and other transactions.

You will work primarily for TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited (TGP), the main trading organization for gas (including LNG), power, renewables, and dry bulk products in the TotalEnergies Company.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal services and advice on the legal issues relating to TGP's gas, power, and emissions trading activity, business development, and related corporate activities.
  • Providing legal support as required to other Total Group entities.
  • Drafting and advising on all agreements and other documentation relating to the business.
  • Advising on legal risks and minimizing/mitigating their impact on the TS business.
  • Managing legal disputes for the Company and advising on the risks and outcomes.
  • Monitoring and advising on applicable laws for the business in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Understanding the business and commercial and technical issues that may affect the legal services being provided.
  • Attending legal and industry working groups to assess industry changes.
  • Instructing external counsel and actively working to minimize external legal costs.
