The institution is at the forefront of innovative research programs utilizing synchrotron radiation, developing advanced instrumentation, and providing access to the scientific community. Since its inception, SOLEIL has served as an invaluable resource for researchers across various fields.
Position Overview:
As a member of the Magnetism and Insertion Group, you will be integral to the development and maintenance of accelerator magnets and magnetic insertions. The group plays a pivotal role in the significant upgrade initiative, SOLEIL II, which emphasizes the advancement of magnet technology for both the Booster and Storage Ring, alongside the implementation of a vibrating wire bench for precise magnet alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting magnet modeling
- Validating the performance of the vibrating wire bench
- Presenting findings and progress through formal presentations
Essential Qualifications:
A degree in engineering or a PhD with expertise in magnetism and/or electromagnetic radiation is required. Key competencies include:
- Proficiency in magnetic modeling using software such as TOSCA or RADIA
- Experience in metrology and instrumentation
- Familiarity with standard computing tools
- Fluency in English
Preferred Skills:
- Programming experience in Igor Pro, with knowledge of TANGO
- Understanding of mechanical systems
- Experience with laser technologies
- Project management capabilities
