The selected candidate will oversee international financial sanctions, focusing on the enforcement of the Russian sectoral regime (833/2014) along with the sanctions pertaining to Haiti, Venezuela, Cuba, and Guatemala.
Key responsibilities include the preparation, guidance, and oversight of negotiations related to sectoral sanctions against Russia. This entails evaluating proposals from member states and their implications for critical sectors, consulting with stakeholders, consolidating France's positions with the General Secretariat for European Affairs, and participating in both formal and informal discussions with the Commission and other member states. The candidate will also be tasked with drafting instructions for various departments and creating internal documentation and talking points for relevant meetings.
Additionally, the candidate will assist businesses in navigating sanctions, addressing circumvention issues, and managing disengagement from Russia, which includes handling official requests and providing interpretative advice. This role will require frequent interactions with various stakeholders and conducting awareness sessions for industry federations.
Similar responsibilities will be applicable for the sanctions regimes concerning Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala, and Haiti, along with monitoring the effects of third-country sanctions in collaboration with the deputy responsible for extraterritoriality.
