Role Overview

The European Portfolio & Product Management (PPM) team is an integral part of the Regional Structured Finance & Risk Distribution team (SF &RD) which reports ultimately into the Head of CMB Europe, while also aligning to the Global Portfolio Management functional principles. The team has a high profile within the first and second lines of defence; covering both front-end new origination activity, especially for material balance sheet asks from CMB, as well as extant book management ie. ongoing capital and returns optimisation of the lending portfolio of CMB.

c) A sub-team within PPM include Product Management experts, which is outside the focus of this advert.

**Responsibilities**:
Role holders will carry out activities including, but not limited to the below:
Lead DPC process for large and complex transaction proposals
Understand business profiles of individual clients and/or parts of the portfolio (e.g. industry sectors) on a risk/reward basis to inform relevant senior forums and stakeholders
Work with Capital Management and Finance teams around RWA management strategy and measurement and reporting of progress.
Maintaining trusted relationships with the Coverage teams and Senior Management
Influence and implement Group Strategy
Assist with achieving sustainable, relationship driven revenue growth across all CMB segments. Support the management of the Europe CMB business, Global L&TM and WPM in accordance with plan.
Assist with the proactive management of the balance sheet consistent with running a sound and well managed bank. Propose, support and implement strategies to improve Portfolio Risk / Return dynamics measured by increased portfolio GRoRWA.
Help to prioritise capital allocation for new asset origination through the DPC / Sub-DPC process using WPM tools and portfolio knowledge (including client-level sector and company analysis, WWM lists and RWA /Liquidity forecasting). Delivery of outstanding service to internal customers, demonstrating the right behaviours to deliver the firm’s collaboration goals

Requirements

Strong background in corporate banking
Excellent knowledge of loan and capital markets products, including cash-flow lending (corporate or leveraged), M&A, bridges and post-IPO financing
Extremely strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills, and the ability to teach others
Influencing skills and ability to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders across all levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of the marketplace and the competition to appreciate competitive positioning of HSBC
Consistently deals with (gathers/ analyses/ interprets) highly complex information and problems effectively and swiftly to arrive at commercially viable solutions; CMB systems exposure required (ORC/ OMNIA/ PVD)
Ability to influence and drive performance across the business to improve efficiency and grow business
Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and skilled at managing unexpected issues/ astutely anticipating them, (within reason).
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
Demonstration of HSBC principles of treating customers fairly”
