We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to accelerate the future of AI-powered drug benefit-risk analysis

With your 5+ years of Data Engineer experience, you will be pivotal in our ambitious plan to 20x growth and lead ArcaScience in conquering the pharmaceutical AI market. You will be a central part of the technical team, involved in the creation of new products that will accelerate the arrival of personalised medicine in healthcare.

**The Role**

As a Data Engineer at ArcaScience, you will lead four key areas of responsibility:

- Pipeline Development & Maintenance You will own the development, optimization, and maintenance of our data pipelines, the backbone of the company’s delivery infrastructure.
- Production Reliability You will actively ensure the high-performance and high-availability of our production environment, which handles hundreds of daily data processing workflows.
- Quality & Compliance You will drive improvements in our data quality processes, ensuring delivery meets strict medical standards. This includes handling complex workflows involving data analysis, ML model training, and NLP applied to biomedical literature across millions of documents.
- Team Leadership As part of the core IT team, you will manage and grow a dedicated data engineering team over the coming months.

**The Profile We're Seeking**

Data Engineering Expertise
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Analysis, or a related field.
- Proven experience building scalable, high-performance data pipelines, especially in regulated or high-compliance environments.
- Hands-on experience with data and AI tools such as:

- Languages & Frameworks: Python (FastAPI, SpaCy, Spark NLP)
- Infrastructure: Airflow, S3, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Qdrant
- AI APIs: LLM APIs, model integration pipelines
- Experience with automated quality control processes for data pipelines.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

NLP & AI Understanding
- Solid understanding of the NLP/ML lifecycle: training, evaluation, deployment.
- Awareness of MLOps best practices, including cost optimization, validation automation, and model deployment.

SRE / DevOps Culture
- Knowledge of modern DevOps tools and practices: GitLab & GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform.
- Cloud experience across AWS, GCP, or Scaleway.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- 5+ years of experience leading data engineering or AI-related projects.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver technical solutions aligned with strategic business goals.
- Strong communicator with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven leadership in team management and scaling, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
- Fluent English speaker with excellent interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration (CTO, product, regulatory, customers).
