About the job
**Reports to**:Finance Manager or Director of Administration
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Financial Management**:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with French accounting standards and tax laws.
Manage payroll and social security contributions under French labor laws.
File VAT returns, corporate tax, and other statutory requirements.
Audit Preparation:
Assist in internal and external audits.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation for audit processes.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Manage invoicing, collections, and payments.
Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Process Optimization:
Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures.
Identify and recommend improvements in financial systems and processes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with administrative staff, academic teams, and external stakeholders.
Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic decision-making.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
**Educational Background**:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CA (Chartered Accountant), or DSCG (Diplôme Supérieur de Comptabilité et de Gestion) preferred.
**Experience**:
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the education or non-profit sector.
Familiarity with French accounting and tax regulations is mandatory.
**Skills**:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or French equivalents like Sage).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills in English and French (written and spoken).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
**Preferred Attributes**:
Prior experience in the education sector.
Knowledge of French labor laws and payroll systems.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Lyon (69): Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
