For our international team, we are looking for a solution-oriented and hands-on European Employment Council (M/F/d) who is able to proactively manage regional risks related to labour law and regulations as well as support strategic initiatives and projects, such as mergers and acquisitions.
The following tasks await you in this key position:
- Serve as primary legal counsel and trusted advisor overseeing European labor and employment law
- Manage and partner with outside counsel on local labor and employment law matters
- Serve as the primary in-house legal contact for and negotiator with European Works Councils and primary drafter of Works Council
- related agreements Provide practical and business
- oriented legal advice to the European HR team and business leaders on employment-related issues
- Draft employment, separation, confidentiality, non-competition and other employment-related agreements
- Manage labor, employment, and compliance-related EU-based litigation, arbitration, and agency proceedings from inception to resolution, and lead negotiation of mutual / settlement agreements with employees’ counsel
- Develop and maintain compliance with respect to human resources policies, programs, procedures and handbooks
- Collaborate with HR to develop and conduct country-specific training for HR and management on employment-related issues and legal compliance
Besides your curiosity, you bring the following with you:
- Admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one country in the EU; at least 6-8 years of international labor, preferably in combination of law firm and internal experience in a global company
- Experience with day-to-day counseling regarding employment law and compliance across multiple jurisdictions (Germany, France, UK preferred)
- Experience working and negotiating with European Works Councils
- Experience counselling clients on employment and labor law issues, compliance, litigation/dispute resolution and risk management
- Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to oversee complex projects and lead them to successful completion
- Resourceful and able to work independently and take ownership of work, but knows to seek guidance when needed
- Fluency/conversational ability in multiple languages, including English and German
