Head of Purchasing EMEA
Job Summary
The Head of EMEA Purchasing and PM EMEA Purchasing Director will lead an enhanced regional (EMEA) operating model and team to partner and support Imerys 120 locations, managing around $1200M in Purchasing-addressable spend (excluding RAC specific raw materials).
This role is primarily responsible for developing strategy, instituting value and further developing a competitive mutualized purchasing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
The Head of EMEA Purchasing and PM EMEA Purchasing Director reports to the Purchasing VP & has 8 direct reports (3 Sub-region Purchasing Managers, 1 PMO staff, 4 Regional Category Manager group leaders) + 4 functional Regional Category Leaders reporting directy to Global Purchasing Categories.
The overall team includes more than 50 Purchasers across Europe, serves 120 locations, and covers more than 24000 suppliers, for a total addressable spend of 1200M€.
EMEA Purchasing organisation is expected to generate 60M€ + cost savings in the next 3 years & to further improve the weighted average payment term above 60 days.
Typical categories to be addressed: mined raw materials, energy, transport, packaging, chemicals, industrial goods and services, mining services, and others.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop regional purchasing vision & strategy, with multi-year roadmap to establish function within key markets in EMEA.- Run the EMEA Purchasing organisation, processes & reporting structure.- Cultivate & maintain relationships with internal stakeholders/business partners: peers from other businesses, Business & Functions leadership teams.- Develop understanding of Imerys’s EMEA business environment & spend.- Benchmark on best practices to implement globally aligned regional category strategies for focus categories, including Transportation, Indirect, Raw Materials (including Packaging and Chemicals) Mining & Energy.- Act as Purchasing Business Partner with BA (Business Area) stakeholders in different areas: commercial & business development, operations, finance, supply-chain, communications, legal, science & technology, IT.- Enhance the role of advisor for supply market trends information and supply chain risks & opportunities.- Lead cross-functional teams in highly complex & impactful tenders. Outcome of negotiations are highly visible and critical to business outcome
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Solid relevant experience in sourcing & purchasing in international environment (10 year +) with similar team & spend scale- Master degree in Business/Purchasing, engineering background is also a plus- English and French fluent, German is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & OTHER CAPABILITIES- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships & influence key decision makers internally & externally, regionally and globally- Proven experience in planning and leading complex negotiations- Highly motivated & results focused with the ability to act with a high sense of urgency- Ability to operate and execute effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines- Thorough knowledge of the categories, markets, regulations & operations in the mineral mining world- Experience in managing large multi countries scattered team- Experience in P2P processes with centralised teams and in coordination with shared service centres.- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills- Experience in management of international and remote teams
