Director of The Research Department

As Director of the Research Department, you will be responsible for initiating epidemiologic research projects evaluating diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic methods or new strategies for patient care and management. You will supervise the work of a multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to develop and maintain relevant partnerships. You will also initiate cross-functional work with Epicentre's Epidemiology, Intervention and Training Department. As a member of the management team and reporting to the General Director, you will participate in decisions regarding the evolution of Epicentre. Finally, it will be essential to establish ongoing working relationships within MSF.
**What you bring**
**Technical and interpersonal skills**
In charge of a team, you define the objectives of the department you supervise, coordinate, and lead this department (define roles and responsibilities, constitution of project teams, provide ongoing support and evaluation).
**Research initiation**
Present in international medical and scientific discussion forums as well as within MSF, you identify current and emerging research questions relevant to the populations MSF serves. You define future research areas, participate in MSF meetings during which you explain and advocate for the importance of international research standards.
**Supervision**
As the guarantor of the scientific quality of the work carried out, you mobilize resources, ensure the technical and practical supervision of studies. You promote and ensure scientific integrity which includes the responsibility to disseminate results to participants, partners, and the medical and scientific community.
**Contribution to Epicentre**
You participate in discussions on issues related to the day-to-day operations of Epicentre and future functional, scientific and political developments. You participate in and propose communication events (scientific days, internal meetings, etc.). You will report to the Epicentre Board of Directors, and if necessary to the MSF sections, on the progress of projects.

Knowledge of high burden diseases in low-income countries
Funding track record (if applicable)
Knowledge of international humanitarian landscape
MD or PhD required
Degree in epidemiology or public health
Bilingual French and English
Willingness to travel
**Your experience**
Management experience
Experience in financial management of research and epidemiology
Experience in large scale epidemiological studies and trials in resource constrained settings, preferably as a PI

Annual gross salary (included 13th month) between 79.4K€ & 84.6 K€ according to experience.
22 days RTT per year in proportion to the time of presence. Meal vouchers with a face value of €9.00 (60% paid by Epicentre). Health insurance paid for 100% by Epicentre. 50% of the cost of public transport passes is covered.
