Description du poste

As a Sales Engineer, you will serve as the technical bridge between our sales team and prospective customers. You will provide expertise throughout the sales cycle—from initial discovery to solution design, demonstration, and proposal—ensuring that every opportunity is matched with the right solution. In addition to hands-on customer engagement, you will be responsible for managing a team of Sales Engineers, developing their capabilities, and supporting key strategic opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Activities & Customer Discovery

Collaborate with sales colleagues to review lead information and conduct background research in preparation for customer Discovery calls.

Evaluate the outcomes of Discovery calls to determine sales qualification and next steps in the sales process.

Translate customer needs into tailored demonstrations and Proof of Concept (PoC) solutions using Sage products and capabilities.

Solution Design & Demonstration

Deliver compelling, customer-centric product demonstrations that align with technical and business requirements.

Capture and document detailed customer requirements to ensure a seamless handover to solution design and delivery teams.

Maintain a strong understanding of product capabilities and align them to customer use cases in competitive sales environments.

Respond to technical inquiries from customers throughout the sales journey.

Sales Support & Stakeholder Collaboration

Act as a liaison between sales and development teams to agree on timelines, resource allocation, and delivery scope.

Coordinate technical aspects of the proposal and tender responses, including cost estimation, solution design, and customer presentations.

Provide post-demo follow-up, including revised specs and additional demos, as needed.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

Lead and mentor a team of Sales Engineers, setting performance standards, offering coaching, and sharing best practices.

Support junior team members by participating in meetings and advising on strategic and technical approaches.

Personally engage in high-value or complex sales engagements requiring bespoke technical solutions.

Continuous Improvement & Market Insight

Conduct regular competitor and market analysis to position Sage solutions effectively against alternatives.

Gather and share feedback with product and strategy teams to inform roadmap development and customer-centric innovation.

Identify gaps in current product offerings and collaborate cross-functionally to address them through continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

Proven experience in a Sales Engineer, Solution Consultant, or Pre-Sales role within a software or technology-led environment.

Strong technical acumen paired with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Excellent discovery, questioning, and active listening skills.

Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering persuasive product demonstrations.

Ability to lead, coach, and develop a technical sales team.

Preferred

Experience working with enterprise software (e.g., ERP, CRM, SaaS platforms).

Understanding of the software development lifecycle and solution scoping practices.

Familiarity with RFP/RFI and tender processes in B2B environments.
