**About the role**:
Reporting to the Head of Pathology, you will be part of the Biomedical Team to work in target discovery, assay development and validation, multimodal data interpretation and the development and validation of artificial intelligence tools.

This role will provide the opportunity to contribute to key activities/programmes at Owkin.

**In particular, you will**:

- Provide scientific and technical expertise in target/asset assay development and validation, including (co-)development of early phase studies, clinical protocols and asset development plans
- Participate in the clinical biomarker assay/companion diagnostics development
- Oversight and co-development of pathology strategy and work from our partners (including CROs, academic partners and our external expert network)
- Provide scientific QC/evaluation, annotations and interpretation of pathology data
- Participate in the scientific development and establishing of new methods and contribute to publication and communication whenever possible
- Present and lead scientific activities at major congresses and forums and engage with scientific leads and partners
- Design and lead pathological educational programs for data/biomedical scientists and external health care professionals.

**About you**:
Required qualifications / experience:

- MD degree from an accredited medical school and board certification in anatomical (or equivalent) Pathology OR Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/DVM) from an accredited University and additional certified qualification in veterinary pathology
- Additional experience as Consultant in diagnostic pathology or medical affairs in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO) is highly desirable for this Director role.
- Track record of scientific publications in molecular biology, histopathology and/or computational pathology
- Broad understanding of digital pathology and AI tools in diagnostic and translational pathology
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and global regulations and guidelines
- Proficient in the whole diagnostic pathology process and implications for digital pathology and AI products

Ways to stand out:

- Membership in professional medical societies/associations
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization processes, including but not limited to, clinical operations, commercial, regulatory, and medical affairs specifically related to companion diagnostics
- Familiarity with global regulatory organizations, guidelines, and practices
- Experience of diagnostics commercialisation and launch working with national or local authorities and/or other organizations
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and interactions (KEE, advocacy groups, payers)
