Role Overview

**We are looking for**:

- A Mechatronics Laboratory Technician with knowledge in robotics, mechanics & electronics and with advanced programming skills in python to contribute to Solvay Research digitalization. By joining the Automation & Robotics team, you will develop innovative laboratory tools for the researchers in GBUs of Solvay group.

**We count on you for**:

- Program devices to create modular robotic systems. Program movements of 6-axis collaborative robotic arms or linear axes in harmony with multiple lab devices, such as actuators, sensors, pumps, pH meters, balances, viscometers to acquire.
- Design mechanical parts to properly integrate measuring tools to the overall robotic platform.
- Design intuitive and user-friendly human-machine interfaces to run lab experiments, display and analyze data automatically.
- Design robotic and autonomous systems, dynamics and motion controls, coupled with artificial intelligence and machine learning to pave the way for autonomous labs.
- Contribute to lead the digital transformation of Paris Research Center: Gain an in-depth understanding of stakeholders needs, while analyzing work methodologies and identifying automation opportunities: define technical scope, schedule and budget, prototype and design researcher-friendly tools, and support stakeholders in deploying and using tools as well as troubleshooting existing A&R tools on site.
- Interface with a global network of A&R labs (Lyon, Shanghai and Stamford), the Artificial Intelligence team for data analytics to ensure implementation of a digital strategy across Solvay labs.
- Demonstrate a safety commitment and ensure a safe working environment by assessing experiments risks prior manipulation.

**You will bring**:

- Bachelor of science degree in Mechatronics/Robotics/Instrumentation
- Excellent programming skills in Python, C++ mandatory. First experience with libraries such as OpenCV, PCL will be appreciated.
- Experience with Git-based source code repositories such as GitLab.
- Create a user-friendly interface (HMI) for programming intelligent mechatronic systems.
- 3D mechanical design skills will be appreciated (SolidWorks, or open source such as FreeCAD)
- Good english level is required
- Experience in a chemical laboratory is a plus.
- Strong collaborative skills, working in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong oral communication skills and out of the box thinking and support new ways of working
