**Job Opportunity**:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Casualty Underwriter to join our team in Paris.

This position will be a great fit for an experienced Casualty Underwriter with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, looking to expand responsibilities and underwriting knowledge as well as grow a book of business. We are seeking an individual who is hard working, team-oriented, passionate, and always strives towards excellence.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the accurate evaluation, selection, and pricing of Casualty risk
- Strong technical underwriting skills, extensive knowledge of rating tools and ability to work with actuaries when required
- Underwrite and grow profitable book of business within the established underwriting guidelines
- Proactive interaction and maintaining relationships with brokers and customers
- Identify and develop new business pipelines and manage renewal retention to meet and exceed financial plans
- Work with cross functional teams in development and execution of business
- Be a team player and ready to undertake additional tasks and projects in support of the overall objectives of the BHSI
- Support management in developing strategies to drive profitable results in line with department objectives.
- Assist on product/price benchmarking in the market and feedback on product enhancements
- Advocate BHSI’s culture and values and uphold our reputation in the market

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years Casualty underwriting experience
- Strong underwriting acumen
- Experience and strong understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts
- High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to demonstrate sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
- Ability to work in and adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to manage workload effectively, especially during peak seasonal periods
- Law Degree or equivalent technical education, and/or strong insurance qualifications
