Position Duties

Responsibilities:

- Define, document, and drive the vision for animation on the AAA title projects ;
- Manage a team of animators, spearheading project planning, ensuring quality and staying on the schedule precisely ;
- Create / determine the benchmark in each project and test ;
- Set up the production pipeline for animation in AAA games ;
- Act as the key person to communicate between animators, cross department in studio and the external clients ;
- Provide the guidance during the creative discussion with design and art leadership ;
- Participate to putting together proposals for clients and projects by defining the strategy for animation and estimate the workload ;
- Be a strong partner with producers to ensure the schedules and plans meet business needs ;
- Mentor / Pitcher to support the animation team with constructing feedbacks ;
- Provide a sharp perspective with game-logic to meet the quality and requirement ;
- Analyze the workflow, technical key points of new projects, and understand requirements from leads and clients ;
- Foresee the weakness and threats in animation department to improve what is needed ;
- Be a team Cultural keeper and guardian to create an atmosphere with belonging ;
- Pitch the action / acting in Cinematics to fulfill the story-telling and narrative inside ; camera staging is needed as well.

Qualifications:

- 10+ years' experience in game industry with at least 3 shipped titles ;
- Minimum 3 years of management experience as an Animation Director or Animation Team Lead with sufficient and good credentials ;
- A great eye for overseeing and supervising all animation content across a single project ;
- Deep understanding of full game industry working process ;
- A thorough understanding of all kinds of animation styles, technique and theory ;
- Extensive knowledge of game content production pipeline and animation pipelines for AAA ;
- Excellent understanding of animation and rigging workflows ;
- Confidence with directing story boarder and animator in Cinematic and Cutscene ;
- Committed and motivated to be a good team player with a positive attitude ;
- A fluent English ability with good communication skills ;
Passion for games.

Bonus skills:

- At least one shipped AAA title ;
- Experience in various 3D Animation software, such as Motionbuilder, Maya, 3dsMax and Blender ;
- Experience in developing Film or Animated series in CG Industry ;
- Experience with motion capture ;
- Knowledgeable of Animation system in game engines - UE4/5, Unity, or proprietary ;
- Knowledgeable of Animation Blueprint / Animator in game engines - UE4/5, Unity, or proprietary ;
- Deep understanding of full game industry working process.
