**Role Summary**

Mistral AI announced during GTC/VivaTech in June that it is expanding to compute activities. Mistral Compute is an unprecedented AI infrastructure undertaking in Europe, and a strategic initiative that will ensure that all nation states, enterprises, and research labs globally remain at the forefront of AI innovation.

Mistral AI is on the lookout for a FP&A Compute Lead to be a key partner to our compute engineering team, providing insights to optimize our infrastructure resources while planning for future infrastructure needs.

You will be instrumental to our long-term compute strategy by developing financial models for strategic investment areas.

In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Head of FP&A and collaborate closely with our engineering teams, offering financial expertise and guidance to optimize our capacity investments and drive strategic decision-making.

**More specifically, you will**

Strategic Capacity Planning & Analysis
- Create and manage long-term capacity forecasts and scenario planning for infrastructure development over periods exceeding two years.
- Take the lead in FP&A for initiatives related to long-term capacity.
- Perform return on investment analysis for new platforms and investments aimed at optimization.

Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Financial Planning & Analysis
- Manage financial planning and analysis for expenditures related to GPUs, including CPU compute and storage.
- Lead initiatives aimed at optimizing the efficiency of cloud resources.
- Create forecasting models and analyze factors influencing costs associated with GPU usage.
- Maintain deep expertise on CSP contract terms, pricing structures, and potential optimization opportunities.
- Work closely with Legal and Compute Engineering teams to ensure proper implementation and adherence to contracts.

**Who you are**

**You must have**
- 5+ years of experience in areas such as strategic finance, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, consulting, or investment banking, with a preference for experience in cloud infrastructure or technology.
- MSc or MBA in finance, economics, or business.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of transforming data into insightful conclusions and creating detailed financial models.
- Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex financial issues.
- Demonstrated history of collaborating with technical teams to promote financial optimization efforts.
- Comfortable working across different functions and skilled at explaining complex financial concepts to those without a finance background.
- Enthusiastic about thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adept at adapting to change.
- Action-oriented with a strong work ethic and experience in delivering results under tight deadlines.
- Excellent relationship-building, business judgment, process management, and communication skills.

- A minimum of 2 years of experience focused on financial management within cloud infrastructure.
- Direct experience collaborating with leading cloud service providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Familiarity with/background in AI, machine learning, or infrastructure for high-performance computing.
- Expertise of the economics, contract structures, and pricing models of cloud service providers.
- Experience with the economics and optimization strategies related to GPU architecture.
- Skilled in using financial modeling tools.
