- Created in May 2019, the TotalEnergies Nature Based Solutions (TENBS) team manages a portfolio of diverse operations in Africa, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, drawing on its agricultural, forestry, carbon and business expertise.
- Its main mission is to select, qualify, invest and manage natural carbon sink operations (Conservation & REDD+, Afforestation-Reforestation, Agriculture & Agroforestry, Biochar, Wetlands & Blue Carbon) with its partners while working on the right positioning, internally and externally, of nature-based solutions.
- TENBS designs and implements its operations using a landscape approach, in participation with local communities, including economic value chains aimed at the sustainability of natural carbon sinks and the achievement of optimal environmental and social benefits.
- In this context, we are looking for a
- **Business Development & Operations Manager**, whose missions will be the following:
**Business development**:
- Identify, analyze, and participate in the selection of new business opportunities aligned with NBS and Company strategy
- Research and verify data from and on identified prospect projects
- Develop internal presentation materials to defend selected deals
- Initial contact and discussions with potential external partners (NGOs, investment funds, development agencies, private companies, etc.).
- Field studies on identified potential projects.
- Instruction and management of multidisciplinary projects in conjunction with all internal and external stakeholders
- Conducting desk top due diligence
- Active participation in commercial negotiations
- Drafting of investment files and financial business plans required by the Company
- Active participation in the preparation of project contractualization documents
**Management of operations - role of Lead Asset Manager on complex operations**
- Follow-up of reporting and performance of operations
- Field mission at least once a year
**Active contribution to the team's activity**:
Collecting and sharing information around the following topics: carbon markets, methodological innovation, competitive benchmark, and any other NBS related field through research, active network and external industry conferences and events- Master's degree/engineering school (Bac+5)/business/management/ Instituts d'Etudes Politiques in the field of environment, forestry, agriculture, sustainable development, international policy on climate change
- 3 to 10 years experience in carbon project development and operations and/or project development
- Understanding of local and indigenous peoples' human rights issues (FPIC)
- Understanding of the natural carbon cycle, biological sequestration mechanisms and global climate issues
- Knowledge of the voluntary carbon market, carbon certification standards and co-benefits, as well as international frameworks (UNFCCC) and major climate agreements (Paris Agreements, Kyoto Protocol...)
- Expected sectoral networks and contacts
- Ability to model and monitor financial, carbon and ESG co-benefits performance
