Purpose of Position
The Director of Pilot Training (DOT) is responsible for maintaining and developing the operation of all Pilot / Cabin Safety Training Programs in the Center, complying with all applicable regulations and company guidelines as well as internal Quality Management- and Safety Management System policies and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities - English

  • Supervise the development of standardized courseware documentation.
  • Ensure that such materials are prepared, updated and maintained in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Review data from Customer requests, Airworthiness Directives and the aircraft manufacturers to determine their applicability for training and checking.
  • Propose changes to the approved courses, courseware and/or training equipment when applicable or required.
  • Coordinate and standardize, by aircraft type, the Pilot Training Programs, classroom media, lesson plans, and Expanded Instructor Action Guides (EIAGs) and all other related courseware pertaining to both the Lead and Associate Centers.
  • Supervise and manage Customer training activities.
  • Monitor, instructor training delivery standards and client performance in accordance with all company processes.
  • Oversee and monitor Flight Training Device performance and capabilities and coordinate with the MFTD for any updates, corrections, improvements or recurrent evaluations. Support the MFTD in preparation for and during Flight Training Device evaluations.
  • Monitor Ground and Flight (Simulator and/or Aircraft) training activities to ensure technical and procedural accuracy.

TrainingStandards–InstructorActivities

  • Monitor Instructor/examiner qualification and certifications as applicable and ensure instructors and examiners are qualified in all required training programs.
  • Monitor instructor adherence to training delivery standards as listed in the FlightSafety International 'Professional Instructor Handbook".
  • Provide information and resources to individual Instructors in support of the conduct of Customer training.
  • Conduct periodic Instructor and PM meetings to communicate policies, procedures, and unique Customer training issues.
  • Oversee all New-Hire Instructors qualifications and coordinate with the DOS/PM to ensure efficiency of the qualification process. Assign instructors to the appropriate programs and courses, keeping company interests and training needs in mind.
  • Monitor operational efficiency and standards and make recommendations for improvement to the CM.

Mentoring / Managerial Activities

  • Interview prospective teammates, evaluate and recommend timely employment.
  • Provide project direction(s), set priorities and monitor staff achievement.
  • Direct and/or facilitate departmental staff meetings, standardization- and training events.
  • Complete Performance Appraisal documents (6-month, annual, promotion) and conduct Performance Appraisal meetings with Teammates.
  • Manage departmental personnel matters under the guidance of Teammate Resources.

And undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned, consistent with the scope and seniority of the role.

  • Surveiller les standards de formation des instructeurs et la performance des clients conformément à tous les processus de l'entreprise.
  • Superviser et surveiller la performance et les capacités des dispositifs de formation au vol et coordonner avec le MFTD pour toute mise à jour, correction, amélioration ou évaluation récurrente. Soutenir le MFTD en préparation et pendant les évaluations des dispositifs d'entraînement au vol.
  • Surveiller les activités de formation au sol et en vol (simulateur et/ou aéronef) afin d'assurer la précision technique et procédurale.

Normes De Formation – Activités Pour L'instructeur

  • Surveiller la qualification et les certifications des instructeurs/examinateurs selon les cas applicables et s'assurer que les instructeurs et examinateurs sont qualifiés dans tous les programmes de formation requis.
  • Surveiller le respect des normes de formation des instructeurs telles que listées dans le « Professional Instructor Handbook » de FlightSafety International.
  • Fournir des informations et des ressources à chaque instructeur pour soutenir la conduite de la formation aux clients.
  • Organiser des réunions périodiques entre instructeurs et Program Manger afin de communiquer les politiques, procédures et les questions spécifiques de formation des clients.
  • Superviser toutes les qualifications des nouveaux instructeurs et coordonner avec le DOS/PM pour garantir l'efficacité du processus de qualification. Assigner les instructeurs aux programmes et cours appropriés, en tenant compte des intérêts de l'entreprise et des besoins de formation.
  • Surveiller l'efficacité opérationnelle et les normes et formuler des recommandations d'amélioration au Center Manager.

Mentorat / Activités Managériales

  • Conduire les entretiens d'embauche des candidats et recommander des postes appropriés.
  • Fournir des orientations de projet, définir les priorités et participer au développement de son équipe.
  • Diriger et/ou faciliter les réunions du département, les événements de standardisation et de formation.
  • Compléter les documents d'évaluation des performances (6 mois, annuels, promotion) et organiser des réunions d'évaluation des performances avec les collaborateurs.
  • Gérer les questions de son équipe en collaboration avec le département des Ressources Humaines.

Et assumer toute autre tâche et responsabilité, en cohérence avec le niveau et l'ancienneté du poste.

Minimum Education
Bac +3 or Associate degree (A.A) from a two-year college or technical school preferred.

Fluency in English.

Minimum Experience
Ten (10) years of related experience.

Three (3) to four (4) years of management experience.

Minimum of six (6) months' experience in a teaching/training environment, especially where the material is designed for adult (over 18 years) participants.

Computer literate / Efficient in the application and use of diverse computer applications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Required
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate. The employee may be required to stand; walk; sit; positioning oneself and taste or smell. Must possess physical range of body motion to perform the following:

Reach, exert pressure and manipulate the rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.

Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair.

Enter and exit from the Simulator device via the provided ramp.

Move between the Instructor station, screen and podium while instructing in the classroom.

Exit from malfunctioned Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
