**Your mission**:
The Academic Director is responsible for overseeing the instructional faculty and support for academic programs, promoting excellence in student academic experience, instruction, and curriculum. They will maintain and improve educational processes, participate in faculty recruitment and assignment, participate in reviewing and updating academic programs and quality processes, and guiding and supporting the faculty in SIU’s educational mission. The Academic Director will ensure close working relationships and regular interaction among the Dean of Faculty, Campus Director, Program Leads, Academic Planning Department, and the Registrar in class scheduling/performance and to determine faculty staffing needs. The Academic Director is a coordinating position without direct reports; in the case of discrepancies in decision-making, the Dean of Faculty will make all final decisions regarding faculty in consultation with the Campus Director.
**Your profile**:
The Academic Director will provide support to the Dean of Faculty and the Campus Director on a local Campus scale, including:
- Delivering quality education by managing academic resources, ensuring proper instruction, assessment and delivery of curriculum materials, managing the learning environment, and facilitating the use the University' learning methods and outcomes.
- Ensuring that instructors are following the standardized curriculum and that course objectives are being met.
- Following up of the University of Roehampton Validation Agreement.
- Supporting Campus Directors in achieving campus goals and implementing university guidelines and procedures.
- Providing support to the Dean of Faculty in the direction, motivation, and supervision of faculty on their Campus.
- Supporting the Dean of Faculty in the establishment of performance expectations, conducting classroom observations, analyzing key performance indicators, providing coaching and feedback, assisting in the evaluation of performance and recommending corrective actions.
- Supporting the Dean of Faculty in the developing and updating of files that integrate faculty data and performance records.
- Ensuring the compliance of the initial training of new members of the faculty and participates in that training, exercising a leadership role, coordinating with the Dean of Faculty in the articulation of more completed and effective training processes.
- Providing training to teachers on methodologies, resources, policies, and new approaches to instruction and research.
- Scheduling and providing faculty development in coordination with the Academic Leadership, in-service and professional growth activities to meet accreditation criteria.
- Supporting faculty members in requests for technical and operational resources needed for the instruction.
- Promoting student enrollment growth by developing and implementing retention strategies and initiatives, attending campus events, and involvement in community and professional organizations and events.
- Assisting the Campus Director in the preparation and development of Academic Advisory Committees, supporting in document management, and participating in meetings, identifying aspects that need to be remedied in terms of teaching and academics, with the aim of establishing improvement strategies.
- Facilitating preparation of Institutional Effectiveness actions as required.
- Supporting Academic Leadership in developing and implementing curricula and courses, including activities that foster and support educational research.
- Ensuring academic compliance with policies and procedures, ethical practices, and accreditation criteria, including providing proper and timely documentation to support regulatory compliance, faculty files, student academic advising requirements, grading audits, etc.
- Verifying all classes have appropriate coverage and that instructors fulfill contractual agreements through course end dates.
- Facilitating the selection, hiring, and scheduling of faculty and ensuring smooth communication with all campus personnel in scheduling logistics.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Campus Director/Dean of Faculty.
**Position requirements**:
- Master’s degree required. PhD preferred.
- Technologically skilled and experience with LMS’.
- Proven experience and demonstrated excellence in higher education and HE administration; teaching online courses; academic program design and review; personnel evaluation and development.
- Either native English speaker or proficiency level of English competency
- Local language (French, German, Spanish), desirable
