Accounting Intern

The position (6 month contract renewable)

The Accounting Intern will support the Accounting team in day-to-day operations, month-end closing activities, and finance transformation initiatives. The role provides hands-on exposure to a multi-entity, international finance environment within a regulated financial infrastructure provider.

This internship is designed to give practical experience in accounting processes, ERP systems, and financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting Operations

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Assist with invoice booking, coding, and matching against purchase orders.
• Help maintain and update supplier and customer master data.
• Support the follow-up of outstanding invoices and reconciliations.

2. Month-End Closing Support

• Assist in balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare supporting schedules for:
• Prepayments and accruals
• Fixed assets
• Intercompany balances
• Support the preparation of journal entries under supervision.

3. Financial Controls and Documentation

Assist in the preparation and update of:

• Accounting procedures
• Control checklists
• Audit support files
• Help organize documentation for statutory audits and tax filings.

4. Systems and Process Improvement

Support data extraction and analysis from Sage accounting system and related tools.

• Assist in process automation and reporting initiatives.
• Contribute to finance transformation projects (e.g., e-invoicing, PO workflows, reporting automation).

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree student in: Accounting; Finance; Economics; Business Administration
• Internship required as part of academic program.
• Basic understanding of: Financial accounting principles; Double-entry bookkeeping
• Good knowledge of Excel (formulas, pivot tables preferred).
• Exposure to ERP or accounting systems is a plus.
• Good command of English and French (working language).
