Spark Cleantech is a fast-growing and innovative start-up developing a breakthrough process that
replaces the combustion of hydrocarbons
in high-temperature industrial furnaces and in materials production with an alternative that is
not only fully decarbonised, but also economically competitive
and requires only minimal adaptation to existing industrial processes.

Following the successful deployment of an industrial pilot on a client site in 2024 and a major funding round in 2025, we are now building our first industrial standard.

Our ambition is bold: to address, by 2027, sectors that represent 10% of the global CO2 emissions on a multi hundred Bn€ market

Your Role
As part of the Technology & Product department and reporting to the Technology & Product Director, your main mission will be to support Spark's technological development and the building of its industrial demonstrator by leading the mechanical development of Spark's technologies.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • As team lead, leading and contributing to the mechanical specification and design work for the system and testing equipment, including plasma torches and reactors, in close coordination with other technical teams, in particular torches, reactors, electrical systems, and test & validation.
  • Ensuring that the team's deliverables are consistent with the schedule and comply with system technical requirements.
  • Overseeing and supervising the specification and design of the equipment, which could be manufactured internally or by external suppliers.
  • Managing and supervising subcontractors and service providers, and ensuring the quality of both physical deliverables and technical documentation.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of equipment validation and acceptance plans, under the responsibility of the Test & Validation team.
  • Supporting Spark's intellectual property strategy through active patent monitoring and the protection of new inventions.
  • Leading the scaling-up and recruitment of the team.

Your Profile

  • Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Materials Science, graduated from a top-tier engineering school, ideally holding a PhD
  • At least 10 years of experience in industrial mechanical engineering within high-temperature environments
  • Strong expertise in mechanical design, machining and manufacturing processes
  • Solid background in materials science
  • Good knowledge of European regulations and applicable standards
  • Proven planning capability with a strong results-oriented mindset
  • Experience in managing teams and external suppliers
  • Fluent English is mandatory
  • Open-minded and team player
