The company

Agriodor is an AgriTech SME founded in 2019, after 5 years of research at INRAE.

The company develops and markets innovative biocontrol solutions to control crop pests. Agriodor relies on scientific and technical expertise in entomology, chemical ecology and agronomy to create perfumes based on chemical mediators that make it possible to manipulate the behaviour of pest insects in the field.

The dynamic, multidisciplinary team comprises about forty people, including international profiles.

Post description

Within the R&D team, you take charge of two structuring methodological projects tied to the solution development projects.

You are the scientific and technical lead for these two projects, from experimental design through to decision-oriented reporting.

Your projects are as follows:

  • High-throughput screening (main project)

You lead the development of a high-throughput behavioral screening system. You supervise the development of the system with our technicians and external service providers, from prototype to scale-up.

  • Blendesign™ (side project)

You help to enrich a predictive approach to selecting molecules and blends specific to each target insect. You define the experimental designs that will feed the model in an iterative learning logic. You also take part in the acquisition and then validation of data and collaborate on the development of the predictive model.

Directly involved at the bench in the experimental phases, you take part in data collection and ensure its robustness, traceability and usability.

You analyse behavioural data, build the first statistical models and present the results clearly to the project teams and the scientific management.

You work within a multi-skilled team:

  •  research technicians carry out part of the trials and device developments;
  •  a data team will handle the development of complex models and of the video analysis tools.

Profile required

Holder of a doctorate or an engineering degree/master's degree with significant experience (research engineer or senior study engineer) in behavioural studies, entomology, neuroethology or chemical ecology, you have already designed and conducted experiments in one of these fields and set up video-tracking systems. This is the foundation of the position.

Your experience has enabled you to demonstrate:

  • Your ease at the bench: handling living organisms, designing and fine-tuning experimental devices, solving technical problems;
  • Your command of video tracking and behavioural analysis: acquisition setup, tracking tools, extraction of relevant behavioural variables;
  • Your solid statistical background: experimental design, mixed models, and the ability to identify the factors to include in a prediction model.

It has also enabled you to develop:

•  A taste for working in a multidisciplinary team and the ability to link biologists, technicians, data scientists and consultants;

•  Ease in reporting: regular progress updates, decision-oriented syntheses, milestone tracking.

You are proactive and a source of proposals, and comfortable speaking English.
