About the Role
The Destination Director is effectively the owner of the Annecy location — the person who holds the full picture of what's happening on the ground and makes sure housing, event vendors, budget, camp logistics, and the local team are all moving together toward a successful cohort. This is a broader, more senior role than a pure operations function: it carries real coordination and people-leadership responsibility across the local camp, community, and operations leads, alongside direct ownership of vendor relationships, budget and P&L, and the community-experience workflow. This role reports directly to the COO who is supporting all three Destination Directors concurrently toward full ownership of their local vendor relationships. In practice this means the Destination Director owns vendor sourcing, negotiation, and day-to-day management directly, with the COO as a guiding resource rather than an intermediary; major contracts still route through the COO for signature (see Vendor Management & Budget below). This role is not responsible for hiring or selecting the local Camp Lead (that stays with the Head of Education), though the Destination Director may help promote the opportunity locally. However, the role will provide heavily-weighted input on selecting the Community and Operations Leads if they are not already in place. The Destination Director holds ultimate ownership and accountability for the location's family communications — major announcements, full-group emails, and serving as the single escalation point to resolve issues quickly and keep things clear and efficient for families. Community Lead owns day-to-day, local-detail communication (e.g., answering questions, local recommendations) and feeds information up, but the Destination Director is the one voice accountable for the whole picture.

Key Responsibilities
Location Ownership & Team Coordination
• Act as the on-the-ground owner and point of accountability for the Annecy location
• Coordinate across the camp, community, and operations leads, and the founders to keep the location aligned and unblocked

• Attend offsites and weekly syncs with the other Destination Directors
• Represent Annecy in cross-location planning and decision-making School Setup Coordination (with Head of Education)
• Coordinate logistics for school setup, including ordering furniture where needed, securing a compliant venue for schooling activities, and organizing shuttles/transport as needed
• Support teacher team-building and training logistics, in partnership with the Head of Camp Programs / Head of Education
• Note: Head teacher selection is owned by the Head of Education, not this role Housing & Accommodation

• Own the relationship with all local vendors — housing, community experiences, catering — including sourcing and negotiation, with particular hands-on responsibility for key/major vendors
• Negotiate any new vendor contracts within the agreed budget. Final contract signature rests with the COO this year while the Destination Director builds a track record — this role negotiates but does not sign
• Own the location's budget and P&L, with CEO oversight. Scope of autonomy here will flex based on the individual Director's experience and track record
• Coordinate catering menus and related logistics Community Experiences & Customer Portal
• Responsible for making updates to the customer portal and communicating any changes

• Own parent-facing communications for the June–August Collectives
• Synthesize day-to-day input from the Community Lead (local recommendations, routine questions) into clear, streamlined, and efficient communication that minimizes confusion for families What We're Looking For
• Experience in relationship / stakeholder management

• Comfort with a high-paced, seasonal business — this role's busiest period is May–August
• A generalist mindset — comfortable wearing many hats and shifting between team coordination, vendors, budget/P&L, and school logistics
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort operating with real autonomy
• Comfortable representing the location among founders and peer Directors
• Must live locally in Annecy or within reasonable, reliable commuting distance — this is an on-the-ground, in-person role Languages: English required (all customers are English-speaking). French required for Annecy. Example Timeline and Estimated Engagement
