The Site Director I is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of a manufacturing facility, with accountability for safety, quality, service, cost, people, and operational results. This position leads site operations and cross-functional teams to execute business objectives, drive continuous improvement, develop organizational capability, and ensure effective day-to-day performance. The Site Director I works closely with functional and corporate partners to implement company strategies, support business growth, and maintain a safe, efficient, and engaged workplace.
Duties And
Responsibilities:
Continuously improve Employee Safety systems, identify and resolve risks, and reinforce a Zero mindset on employee injuries. Ensure Food Safety and Quality systems are effectively implemented and maintained, and consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Partner with Supply Chain to identify capacity constraints and ensure the site can consistently meet customer service commitments. Implement and sustain Guenther Performance Systems (GPS) and Lean manufacturing practices, driving proactive communication and disciplined execution throughout the site. Lead by example on the plant floor, using the GPS approach to coach teams, review performance where the work occurs, and reinforce accountability. Deliver annual productivity and cost-improvement commitments through projects that improve OEE, reduce product waste, improve labor and material utilization, and eliminate unnecessary costs. Create and execute annual site business plans focused on People, Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost. Lead the site leadership team by establishing clear goals, objectives, and performance expectations and regularly reviewing results and corrective actions. Monitor daily operating schedules and site performance to ensure production, staffing, maintenance, and service goals are achieved. Provide operational leadership through cross-functional collaboration and analysis of production, service, labor, waste, and cost performance. Develop and maintain a 1
- to 3-year site operating and capital plan that supports expected demand, infrastructure needs, asset reliability, and business growth. Improve facility stewardship, preventive maintenance, and asset reliability to support safe and dependable operations. Participate in new product development and planning by evaluating manufacturing capability, cost, capacity, and operational requirements. Lead the site implementation of new products, process changes, and operational initiatives. Manage performance to the approved annual operating budget and provide timely budget updates, forecasts, and corrective action plans to the Sr. Director and/or Vice President. Maintain a strong associate-relations culture through visible leadership, clear communication, coaching, and consistent application of company policies and expectations. Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, Operations, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. At least 7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including a minimum of 2 years in a plant operations leadership role with responsibility for multiple functions, departments, or shifts. Food manufacturing experience is preferred. Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement training or certification is preferred. Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and manufacturing performance or maintenance systems. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Proficient use of a computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software. Strong working knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (HACCP, GMP, FDA guidelines, etc.). Proven ability to lead cross-functional manufacturing teams and drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, service, and cost. Strong problem-solving, analytical, financial, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate operating data into action. Strong communication, interpersonal, coaching, and change-management skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and balance daily execution with longer-term site priorities. Manage and develop multiple direct reports, which may include Manager(s), Supervisor(s), and other site functional leaders based on site structure. Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed. Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best-in-class output is created. Working Conditions And Physical Effort: Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with regular time spent in both office and production areas. Regular presence on the production floor is required to observe operations, engage with employees and leaders, and support site performance. May be exposed to manufacturing-related conditions including noise, temperature variations, dust, odors, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of a food production environment. Must be able to safely navigate production, warehouse, maintenance, and other facility areas as needed. Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business or operational needs require.
